What is Tatreez?
Tatreez is a traditional Palestinian embroidery craft practiced for generations, built on cross-stitch technique. More than decoration, it's a visual language — each region, village, and family carries its own patterns and motifs, passed down through women across centuries. At Irth, we work with that tradition as a living craft, not a museum piece.
Who makes the pieces, and where?
Our pieces are made by women artisans in Palestinian villages — specifically Beit 'Ur, Bil'in, and Kufr Nimeh. These are women who learned tatreez the same way it has always been learned: by watching, then doing, then passing it on.
What materials are used?
Tatreez is traditionally worked onto etamine, a mesh-like fabric that makes cross-stitching possible using pearl cotton threads. For finished products, the embroidery is applied to or incorporated into other materials — canvas, cotton, linen — depending on the piece.

Orders & Shipping
Where do my orders ship from?
All US orders ship from within the United States — no international customs, no long waits, no surprise fees.
How long does delivery take?
Standard shipping via USPS Ground Advantage typically takes 2–5 business days. Express shipping takes 1–3 business days.
How much does shipping cost?
Standard shipping is $8. Express is $15. Orders over $70 ship free.
Do you ship internationally?
International shipping isn't available through the website yet, but we do fulfill international orders arranged directly. Reach out to us at hello@irthhouse.com or via DM on Instagram and we'll work something out.
How do I track my order?
Once your order ships, you'll receive a confirmation email with a tracking number. You can use that to follow your package through USPS.
What if my order arrives damaged?
Email us at hello@irthhouse.com with your order number and a photo of the damage. We'll make it right.
What is your return policy?
We accept returns within 7 days of delivery, provided the item is unused and in its original condition. Once we receive and inspect it, we'll issue a full refund to your original payment method.
Product Care
How do I wash embroidered pieces?
It depends on the piece.
For structured or everyday items — canvas totes, wallets, pouches — a gentle cold machine wash with a mild detergent is fine. Lay flat or hang to dry.
For delicate pieces — anything embroidered on silk, light fabric, scarves, shawls, or wall hangings — hand wash carefully in cold water or take it to a dry cleaner. These pieces are meant to be lived with, not hidden away, but they reward a little care.
When in doubt, err on the side of gentle.
Will the colors fade over time?
With proper care, the colors should stay vibrant for a long time. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight and harsh detergents, and you'll be fine.
